We love this annual toy appeal for children in hospital – run by local charity Amelia’s Rainbow Fund – which really cheers up sick children in hospital over Christmas.
We’re going to help them by delivering toys to families – and our Store & Secure self storage in Bournemouth will be a drop-off point for receiving those donated new toys, too. They will be personally delivered to children in the Children’s Wards and A&E at Poole and Dorchester hospitals on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Please can you help the charity by buying some toys and dropping them here to our storage company before December 1?
The charity is asking for gifts of new toys for all ages, but particularly for babies from newborn and teenagers. Sensory gifts are alway useful.
The Bournemouth Daily Echo has got behind the appeal, which will help publicise it hugely!
Amelia’s Rainbow Fund was set up following the death of eight-year-old Amelia-Grace Cooper in 2010, who died after battling an aggressive form of childhood cancer called neuroblastoma.
Every year, Amelia-Grace’s parents Chantel and Karl take gifts to the children’s ward at Poole and Dorchester hospitals on Christmas Day and Boxing Day – and to the families of children the charity has supported over the last few years who remain at home over the festive period. Their brothers and sisters get presents too!
Chantal said: “Christmas can be a very hard time of year for many people, especially for children and families with serious illnesses or those who have lost a child. Having experienced Christmas at both of these times we understand it can be a time when parents try and make it magical even when they may be sad inside.”
